Jumping back in...

It has been quite a long while since I posted last... have been way too behind on just about everything! Decided to just jump in where we are now.

The boys had a good time on Halloween... Remy was a chef & Quinn an elephant. They had trick or treating downtown on Halloween morning. All of the local businesses handed out candy. Remy managed to unwrap & get a lollipop in his mouth in about 2 seconds flat. Quinn didn't really care much about the candy, but had a great time eating chips & salsa and rice & beans when we met up with friends for Mexican lunch after trick or treating.

Somehow all of their chocolate candy disappeared soon after we got home. Poor kiddos, they don't even know what they are missing! Yum... love those mini snickers bars.

Random Remy

Remy, as most of you know, is a rascal.

"Who, me?"

The other night as William was making dinner he got out a big block of mozzarella. He was momentarily distracted by something & did not notice this little mouse stealing his cheese.

I found him in the living room watching tv, enjoying his appetizer.

Almost couldn't take the pictures because I was laughing so hard!

A more serious look.

Remy hard at work. He loves to build things. Unfortunately most of the time big brother comes in & demolishes his creations. (We're working on that one!)

Supermodel Remy's club chair campaign.

Beach party

To celebrate William's cousin visiting with his family from England & another cousin's baby shower we recently had a big beach party! It was a bit windy, but with lots of great food & good company we hardly noticed.

This was actually Remy's first time at the beach.

Quinn isn't the biggest fan of walking on the sand. Though he loves to play in the sandbox.

We all ate too much (thank you Pauline!) & had a wonderful time... all three boys fell asleep in the car on the way home. Luckily, I was the one driving.

Time for School!

Our little Quinn is growing up. This past week he started school! He is going to a special day class three afternoons a week. So far he seems to really love it. The teachers let me know that he was really good at following directions, listening during circle time & singing during music. He has also been talking a lot more & is mimicking a lot of different words & sounds.

On the Friday before school started we went to an open-house to meet his teachers & to see the room.
Orientation morning...

Putting on shoes...

Okay mom, let's go!

As soon as we entered the classroom Quinn started playing right away. He gave the teacher a hug as well. I knew he'd be just fine.

Morning of first day of class...

Getting in some last minute reading...

Big boy with his Elmo backpack, ready to go.

This is what he looked like when I picked him up after his first class.

Yep, I think we're going to like school.

The Haircut

Quinn is notoriously uncooperative when it comes to things like trimming nails or cutting his hair... which is why it is usually Daddy's job to take care of these things. William has been working like crazy & the first day of school was fast approaching, so I realized I had to take care of the next haircut.

Here are a couple of "before" shots...

I love the long hair, but the poor guy couldn't see half the time with his bangs hanging in his eyes. So off we went to one of those kid salons to see what we could do.

Things started off okay... there are tv screens at each station, I gave him graham crackers (his favorite) to hold in each hand and also let him have sips from a juice box (a rare treat)... at first these distractions did the trick & the nice lady cutting his hair got a lot of the length cut off.

But then...

...he was DONE with us.

Very unhappy Quinn.

But, somehow we all got through it, & although it ended up being MUCH shorter than I had originally wanted, I think he looks pretty cute.

Besides, it's hair. It will grow.

Summer Highlights

It has been quite the busy summer around here! I kept meaning to post pictures as things were happening, but somehow the time just got away from me. Go figure. These two little monkey boys keep me jumping most of the time. Let's see... where did we leave off? Oh yes, Quinn's birthday... we started the big day with yummy birthday pancakes with fresh berries...

Then a few presents...

When Daddy came home from work we had a special birthday dinner (pasta of course! Quinn's favorite.) Then we had cupcakes for dessert. Quinn wasn't too keen on the candles, but liked the cupcakes a lot.

Remy didn't like getting the frosting on his hands & came up with his own special way of eating his cupcake...

The boys & I did the summer session of preschool (the one where the parents stay & particiapte.) One day a week we were in the classroom & the other day we had field trips to fun places. The first trip was to a really great playground a few towns away... it was awesome. There was a separate fenced area for the little ones. Made it much easier to keep track of my two escape artists.

We also went to a little farm & got to meet new friends...

And to ride a little train...

This is how the boys looked on the ride home from almost every field trip...

We had lots of quality outdoor play time at Grandma's house...

And at the pool...

Out for Mexican food... both boys LOVE dipping chips in salsa... we have to make sure it isn't too hot before they dive in.

One time Remy got into the hot salsa... poor little guy didn't eat any more chips that day!

Messy pesto eaters...

High five brother...

This is what happens when Mommy gets Quinn up first & then goes to answer the phone...

Little Remy is a slow waker-upper just like his mom...

Remy drives the truck...

Messy Quinn eats spaghetti...

Little boy, big chair...

We had a great time when Uncle Ed, Aunt Erin & Cousin Dylan came to visit. Dylan & Remy are only 2-1/2 months apart.

Grandma put the boys to work picking up apples off the ground. They had fun filling the buckets.

Walks in the redwoods were a popular outing...

Quality time with Papa...

The ever-changing moods of a 3 year old...

We also had a great visit from Uncle Rick, Ben & Sam. The cousins came to music class with the boys...

I love this one of Remy & Sam...

Ben got to work on his clutch skills with Uncle William's other baby...

Ben, a.k.a. the luckiest teenager on the block...

All in all it has been a really great summer. Can't believe Quinn will be starting "real" preschool in just a couple of weeks. My babies are growing so fast... am trying to savor this little boy time... before I know it, it will be one of my boys learning to drive on one of Daddy's cars!
