Friends & Firsts

The boys had a big week of travel to visit friends and to keep Daddy company while he went to do a show. The show wasn't so great, but we sure had a nice visit with our friends! It was HOT so we spent most of the time in the pool. Quinn is a little fish & has no fear of the water. He loved it when Daddy would toss him up in the air & catch him in the water. Each time he would laugh & do the sign for "more". Remy had his first swim too & seemed to like the water very much. I see many swimming lessons in our future.

Quinn did a lot of walking during our visit. He was motivated to try to keep up with the big kids as they ran past him.

Here is a little video of Quinn walking - this was taken at his birthday party so it was a couple of weeks ago. He has improved even more in his walking confidence.

Remy had a big first this week - his first rice cereal! He didn't seem to be too interested initially, but he quickly got the hang of it. He must be going through a growth spurt at the moment because he seems to be hungry ALL of the time.

Q turns TWO!

Can't quite believe my little guy just turned two years old. Quinn is growing & changing so much recently... he is really blossoming. He is saying more words & has expanded his sign-language repertoire to about 25 signs. Several of the signs he has learned on his own from the videos he likes (Signing Times). Thank you to Noni & Poppi for the new volumes from the series!

That night William & I went out to dinner to celebrate our anniversary - we figure this is one of the last years we will be able to steal Quinn's day without him noticing. Found this cute picture of William on his 2nd birthday.

Yesterday we had a cake & ice-cream party to celebrate the big 2! Thanks to all of our friends who came to get sugared up with us.

Summer Fun

We've had quite a busy week around here! Last week we visited with Emma & Charlie for lunch & had a fun time playing outside. Can't wait to visit with them again this summer... Quinn really loved playing with the big kids.

Then we went out to Grandma's for the weekend & Quinn got a haircut! It didn't exactly turn out like I had hoped - Grandma tried to warn me to stop cutting, it's true - but luckily hair grows & two days later it looked cuter.

Check-ups & more

Both boys had their check-ups at the doctor yesterday - Quinn for his 2 year & Remy for his 4 month. Poor things both had shots. Quinn also had to have blood drawn for his annual thyroid check & x-rays of his neck to check for a condition common with kids who have DS. He was such a brave little guy! Already have the results of his bloodwork & everything looks good. Still waiting to hear about the x-rays, but not too worried about it. At 27" & 16lbs Remy is in the 96th percentile for length & 70th % for weight. Quinn is 34" & 27lbs which is 42nd percentile for height & 43rd for weight. The doc was overall very pleased with both boys.

Quinn's big news this week is that he has added a sign to his repertoire that we did not teach him! He learned how to sign "potty" from the Baby Signing Times video. I thought it was a fluke at first, but he now does it every time I prompt him with the word. We are thinking it might be time to buy a potty seat for him to start getting used to the idea. (Yikes, potty training!?!?) For now, this is his favorite activity in the bathroom - emptying out the bucket of magazines & unrolling all of the toilet paper. Lots of fun!

Remy is pretty much sleeping through the night - usually from about 9 or 10pm to 4 or 5am - we are sooooo happy about this.
(Now if I could just get myself to go to bed earlier!) He is a much more serious baby than Quinn - but when he does smile it simply melts my heart.

Remy had his first visit to "the office" this week - big brother showed him how it all works.

That's about it for now. The boys are both napping (a rare thing to have them asleep at the same time!) and I am going to take advantage of the quiet.
